Get ready to see this baby on constant repeat once we finally get some fall temperatures.  The fit is amazing; I’ve tried on a few moto jackets before but never one that flattered a woman’s silhouette as well.  It also comes in a stunning red matte (perfect for Badger or Aztec fans!). Please don’t hesitate to email me if you’d like more info { jfrench (at) wbyworth (dot) com }.

Thank you to everyone who has entered so far!  I appreciate your support and it makes me so happy to give back to this incredible online community.  {Although the more I look at this picture, the more I realize I add this scarf to my closet too.  😉}

Holy Grail Foundation #3

Hello, friends!

My third holy grail foundation is actually the first one I found back in December 2013: the stunning By Terry Terrybly Densiliss foundation {available at Barney’s, Space NKBeauty.com, and Beautylish}.  My other two holy grail foundation can be found here and here.  Here’s what Beautylish has to say about this lovely foundation:

Terrybly Densiliss Wrinkle Control Serum Foundation review shade 2 cream ivory

Terrybly Densiliss is a foundation serum enriched in skincare benefits with wrinkle control and firming properties that blends in like a second-skin. Wrinkles, whether deep or newly appearing, are targeted so that even the most lined skins are exceptionally smoothed. Its exclusive Densiliss technology, combined with the Mimetic Factor, a patented plant active ingredient, simulates fibroblasts and collagen synthesis by mimetism, acting at the heart of cellular mechanisms, imparting an immediate and long-lasting rejuvenating effect. The complexion is luminous, wrapped in an optimal and ultra-natural biomimetic coverage. The contours are reshaped and appear lifted, wrinkles look perfectly smoothed, the skin’s texture is refined and firmer with a newfound radiance and resplendently younger-looking.

Before By Terry Densiliss, I had nearly given up on finding a foundation that actually matched my skin tone.  And I literally tried them all: Mac, Chanel, Tom Ford, Armani, Make Up Forever, Bourjois, Estée Lauder, Bobbi Brown, etc. My skin is approximately N10 – meaning I have very fair skin with neutral undertones {neither pink nor yellow}.  Most foundations are too dark, too pink, or too yellow.  If I found a formula I liked, I mixed primer, moisturizer, and even white foundation to try to create the perfect color. Or I would find a color that was close {like Bobbi Brown’s Skin foundation in Alabaster} only to be disappointed by the formula {only lasts about 5 hours on my skin}.  So when I discovered the Beauty Professor’s blog, and read her spot on color descriptions and glowing review of the formula, I couldn’t wait to try it.

I was surprised to find that the lightest shade of this foundation likely wouldn’t work for me based on Rachel’s swatches and descriptions.  In most foundation lines, especially those that do not have parallel numbering systems based on skin tone {like Yves Saint Laurent}, the lightest shade had always been the closest match for my skin.  But I could tell from Rachel’s pictures that shade 1 would be too pink.  I chose shade 2 {cream ivory} and it was the first foundation that truly matched my skin tone!  Cream ivory is fair without being pink or yellow, and the creamy formula melts into my skin to create a flawless, natural looking base.

This foundation provides medium to full coverage but never looks cakey, and it truly feels weightless on the skin.  My face looks better and better throughout the day, and it gives me a lit from within glow.  It’s also a great foundation for long work days, because the lasting power is impressive {especially when used with the By Terry Densiliss primer}.  When I want a bit more luminosity, I’ll mix a dab of Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonder Glow {like I did today}. The Densiliss foundation is on the more expensive end, but a little bit goes a long way, and the stunning coverage is worth every penny.  It’s also the first foundation I finished in years {I’m on my second bottle and have one in the wings just in case!}.  So although the price seems steep, it’s far less than total price of the countless foundations I purchased that didn’t work.

Here’s the rest of the makeup I’m wearing in the photo above.

Beach Cruisin

Hello friends,

Happy Friday!  The weather has been absolutely gorgeous this week, and I can’t wait for the official start of summer mañana.  And nothing makes me happier when the weather gets warmer than having a flexible schedule.  This week, Nathan and I went to La Jolla to do some scouting for two upcoming photoshoots.  It was overcast during the early afternoon, which made for some great lighting.  I played model for a bit so we could test the location and effects of June Gloom, and so I thought I’d share some of the pictures with you.  It was a J.Crew Everything kinda day, as usual.

The water was preeeetty cold at first, but once I got my feet wet I couldn’t stay away.  The waves were crystal clear, and it turned into a stunningly beautiful day.  Oh, and we did some model casting too.  😉

Blushing

Hello friends,

Today’s style prompt was “Nude, Blush, Dusty Rose.”  I couldn’t resist trying all three, both in my outfit and in my makeup.  {Because you know what we wear on Wednesdays.}  You can see the full outfit on Instagram, but I thought I’d do a quick post about makeup just for you.  😉  I was feeling a bit cheeky this morning, so I went for bright layers of blush with a rosey pink lip and a fresh complexion.  I decided to do a white cat eye since summer is here in spirit {if not in person}.  I loved how it turned out and will definitely be trying it again!

Makeup Monday: Daily Makeup Looks

Hello friends!

I’ve started sharing some of my daily makeup posts on Instagram and I thought I would share them with you, too {with shopping links!}.  I absolutely love makeup.  But if makeup is not your thing, I love that too.  That’s the beauty of makeup: it’s your face.  If you don’t love it, don’t wear it.  😉  Personally, I love how it makes me feel, I love how a bright lipstick brightens the day, I love playing with a smoky eye or colored mascara.  It’s my art, and it allows me to be creative {much like my closet remixes and style challenges}.  This video has gotten a lot of press in the last week, and I personally loved it.  I echo her sentiments 100% — makeup is fun!

I’m no makeup artist, but I do love experimenting with different looks.  I’ve been reaching into my makeup archives and using things I haven’t used in a while, which has been really fun.  And I am absolutely loving using a BB cream on its own, instead of as a primer under foundation.  I never could have done this six months ago, such a great feeling!  While I do prefer medium coverage, it’s nice to have the option, especially on hot weekend days.  Adios, acne!

Tip: even if your eyelashes aren’t as blonde as mine {side note – I’m jealous!}, try a lash primer to maximize the color payoff.  I used to use this one, but Chanel’s is the best.  It keeps my lashes from drying out and eliminates smudging and fall out.

Fresh From the WSJ: Dear J.Crew, What Happened to Us?

Hello friends!

I’m finally able to share some exciting news with you: I was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal about one of my favorite topics, J.Crew!  You might remember reading this post about the declining quality I’ve seen in some J.Crew pieces over the years.  Well, I was not alone: Elizabeth Holmes’s well-written article includes numerous other women who’ve experienced the same disappointment with J.Crew {and the comments are piling up}.  You can read the article online here, and it includes one of Nathan’s beautiful pictures from this blog post!  The article will also be the Personal Style section of the printed version tomorrow!!

J.Crew Factory textured cotton dress J.Crew Martina suede wedges cobalt blue Factory stretch classic button-down shirt 1

Elizabeth did a wonderful job with the article, and although it discusses frustrations with the brand, I believe the takeaway is positive: we love our J.Crew!  It’s been my favorite brand since college, and I continue to add pieces to my wish list.  I hope that the article helps J.Crew get back on track, and I look forward to the day when my “no shopping” ban is over and I can add some new pieces to my wardrobe (like this adorable dress!).

I’d love to hear your thoughts, especially if you’ve experienced some of the same issues discussed in the article.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Closet Remix: J.Crew Factory Textured Cotton Dress

Hello friends!

My trusty photographer snapped a few pictures of my outfit today, so I thought it would be the perfect time for another closet remix post.  I bought this J.Crew Factory textured cotton dress in May 2014, but it’s back again this season in bright, fun colors.  And here are some other cute coral options {1, 2, 3, 4, 5}.

J.Crew Factory textured cotton dress J.Crew Martina suede wedges cobalt blue Factory stretch classic button-down shirt 1

I’m participating in a fabulous colorblock style challenge, and today’s prompt was cobalt + coral.  I paired this bright Seaside Coral dress with J.Crew Martina suede wedges {similar-ish}, a J.Crew Factory stretch classic button-down shirt {similar}, and American Eagle aviators {similar}. Colorblocking is wearing two or more solid colors in an outfit, with no patterns or prints — soooo hard!  But I really love this color combination, so I’m going to have to bring it back in the future (with stripes!).  Thanks to the lovely Shannon for dreaming up this colorful challenge.  ❤

If you’ve never tried aviator sunglasses, American Eagle has numerous pairs that are each less than $15!  I have three, and I am impressed by the quality and durability.  Plus a number of people have asked me if they were Ray-bans, which is always fun when you’re wearing something that costs exponentially less.

Here are two more ways I’ve worn this darling dress.  The textured cotton gives it a bit of stiffness, which I like, but it does tend to get wrinkly after you sit for a while.  And you know I’m a sucker for any dress with pockets!
