Makeup Monday: Daily Makeup Looks

Hello friends!

I’ve started sharing some of my daily makeup posts on Instagram and I thought I would share them with you, too {with shopping links!}.  I absolutely love makeup.  But if makeup is not your thing, I love that too.  That’s the beauty of makeup: it’s your face.  If you don’t love it, don’t wear it.  😉  Personally, I love how it makes me feel, I love how a bright lipstick brightens the day, I love playing with a smoky eye or colored mascara.  It’s my art, and it allows me to be creative {much like my closet remixes and style challenges}.  This video has gotten a lot of press in the last week, and I personally loved it.  I echo her sentiments 100% — makeup is fun!

I’m no makeup artist, but I do love experimenting with different looks.  I’ve been reaching into my makeup archives and using things I haven’t used in a while, which has been really fun.  And I am absolutely loving using a BB cream on its own, instead of as a primer under foundation.  I never could have done this six months ago, such a great feeling!  While I do prefer medium coverage, it’s nice to have the option, especially on hot weekend days.  Adios, acne!

Tip: even if your eyelashes aren’t as blonde as mine {side note – I’m jealous!}, try a lash primer to maximize the color payoff.  I used to use this one, but Chanel’s is the best.  It keeps my lashes from drying out and eliminates smudging and fall out.

Just Me

Striped turtleneck, Gap (seen here); tights – cutoffs – favorite tank – handbag (seen here), J.Crew; platform peep-toe booties, Nine West (seen here); flower clip, Sephora (seen here); sparkly knuckle ring, t+j Designs (one of my favorite pieces of jewelry and it’s on sale right now for only $10!!); sunglasses, Marc by Marc Jacobs

Yep, still alive!  I don’t have a full length mirror in my apartment up north, which means no blog pictures. But honestly, you’re not missing much.  My daily outfit consists of suits (e.g., here, here, here, and here), pantyhose (yes, that’s required), conservative shirts and sweaters, and closed-toed shoes (also required).  Don’t get me wrong, I love my suits and this is exactly what I should wear during trial.  My focus is staying warm and mixing pieces to make as many different looks as I can.  (It’s so cold in the court room!)

I found out on Thursday night that I could come home for the weekend, which was a wonderful surprise.  I’m still working hard, but I snuck out for some fresh air with husband and his amazing new lens!  It was great to be back in the SoCal sunshine, and great to wear bright lipstick and fun shoes and just be me!

Hope everyone had a great week, and thanks for reading!

Soooooo I didn’t sleep very much last night.  (About three hours.)  I’m running on caffeine and sugar right now, so getting dressed this morning was way more difficult than it should be.  I’m not 100% sure about my outfit still but I had to get back to work quickly (the next few weeks are just crazy).  It was time to make it work!

Happy Friday, y’all!  I’m excited for the weekend: work holiday party tomorrow night and my birthday dinner on Sunday.  On that note, didn’t I just have a birthday?!  The 30s are flying by…

Thanks for reading!

I wore this outfit on labor day weekend when my good friend was visiting from Wisconsin.  The weather was bizarre, it was one of those raining-then-not-raining-and-repeat type of SoCal days.  We went to watch the crazy rainy sunset and to have dinner at one of my favorite French restaurants.  I love how these two very casual pieces became a cute outfit, especially with the clutch and pumps.

Happy weekend all!

Dress / cardigan / bag: J.Crew; Necklace: Tiffany; Sunnies: Marc by Marc Jacobs; Pin: Sephora; Boots: Uggs.

I rarely wear Uggs in public.  Mine are really old and I almost always wear heels.  But husband and I had a bunch of errands to run a few weeks ago, the biggest being Ikea, and it’s May in Southern California (aka, cold and cloudy).  I wanted needed comfort on the move.   (We flew through Ikea, built a table and four chairs, made dinner, and hosted our parents at our place.  In about 4 hours.  Just thinking about it all makes me tired!)  On a side note, Lucy is in love with the patio.  She meows at the door constantly, so of course she had to be a part of these pictures.
